The formula
BMR = 10W + 6.25H − 5A + s
Frequently asked questions
Is BMR the same as daily calorie needs?
No. BMR estimates energy at rest; total daily needs also depend on movement, exercise, digestion, and individual factors.
Why is this only an estimate?
Predictive equations describe populations and cannot account for every difference in body composition or metabolism.
Important notes
Results are estimates based on the values supplied and the formula shown. Round only at the end of a calculation, and verify safety-critical, medical, financial, or construction decisions with an appropriate professional.
